Explore how micro:bit technology can bring STEM learning to life! Join Mountain Top Explorium and The STEM Career Connections (STEMCC) Project Team for an evening of hands-on exploration, project ideas, and strategic conversation about integrating micro:bits into middle and high school education. 

Hosted in the collaborative Other Worlds exhibit between Mountain Top Explorium and Breck Create, this event offers an inspiring setting to foster creativity, community connection and partnerships that expand STEM opportunities for Summit County youth.

Target Audience

• Middle and high school teachers, STEM curriculum coordinators, career-focused program leads, and district leadership.

• Local organizations interested in using environmental monitoring, sensor technology, and hands-on STEM tools interested in collaborating with students (mentors).

Schedule of Events 

• 5:00–8:00 PM | Open House & Hands-On Exploration Drop in to test micro:bit technology and connect with local educators, non-profits, and community partners interested in incorporating coding and sensors into their programming.

•  6:00–6:45 PM | Featured Presentation: Connecting Students to Real-World STEM Discover how the STEMCC model uses programmable micro:bit sensors to ground coding and data collection in real-world local challenges. Attendees will learn how combining hands-on technology, NGSS-aligned storyline curricula, and community partnerships empowers middle and high school students to explore STEM career pathways and design meaningful capstone projects.

• 6:45–7:00 PM | Community Collaboration & Educator Insights Local educators currently integrating micro:bits into their classrooms will share their firsthand experiences and insights from the school year so far.

About STEMCC

STEM Career Connections (STEMCC) is an NSF-funded educational project—collaboratively run by CU Boulder, UCAR, and Utah State University—that connects middle and high school students with hands-on technology experiences and real-world mentor pathways. By partnering with local school districts, non-profits, and STEM professionals, the program integrates programmable sensors and 3D printing into school curricula, summer camps, and afterschool activities to foster local community-based learning.
