Explore the creative potential of common materials through sustainable design, reuse, and repurposing!
Through hands-on activities, young artists will explore construction techniques and sustainable design principles, while developing their imagination and problem-solving skills. During these hands-on activities, we will be actively exploring ideas related to waste, reuse, repair, and consumption.
The course encourages participants’ awareness of their relationship to the materials that surround them every day, transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary through innovative and creativity focused practices as well as environmental responsibility.
Art is for everyone!
Young artists will learn how to make their own mini art booklets and practice creative skills including shape, color, and line.
Students will explore artistic abilities through hands-on activities and learn to express their creative side!
In this camp, young artists will play with, assemble, and add color to cardboard to create models and structures.
Participants will be empowered to work together or individually to build a collective imagining of an alternate reality, building it piece by piece during the course of the week. By the end of the course, participants will have constructed all the components to create an immersive installation.
This exploratory course will inspire participants to see the potential for anything to become a source of play, wonder and creation.
Young artists will learn all the skills necessary to create their own graphic novel projects, including creating characters, building booklets, and brainstorming ideas.
Each day, students will participate in empowering, hands-on activities and create their own mini comic over the course of the week!
This camp will spark joy, curiosity and creativity through hands-on projects experimenting with common materials as media for building kinetic machines!
These contraptions will explore physics through simple mechanisms which are combined to create chain reactions, illustrating causal relationships in fun and easily understood ways. Working our way from the basic to the complex, the course will provide an understanding of how the mechanized aspect of our world functions. Participants will collaborate, problem-solve and embrace the necessity of trial and error as a process of invention.
By the end of the course, young inventors will not only have built whimsical machines, but also gained confidence in their ability to think critically and creatively about the world around them, inspired towards further investigation.
Young artists will learn color theory by making their own color wheel collage!
Each day will cover a different, hands-on lesson about color theory and will end with students using collage supplies to fill the next section in their giant color wheel. Supplies are provided, and students are welcome to bring their own magazines, pictures, and scrapbook supplies from home!
