Installation Assistant
Classification: Non-exempt, part-time, on-call
Pay Range: $19-21/hour
General Purpose of Position: This position supports curatorial and exhibition operations by assisting with art installations both inside and outside of BCA-managed facilities.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Reporting to and taking direction from the Director of Programs + Special Projects, the Installation Assistant is primarily responsible for exhibitions installation/de-installation assistance for both indoor and outdoor projects.
Exhibitions Support
Art handling to include packing/unpacking, installation/de-installation of art
Fabrication of exhibition furniture such as pedestals and shelves
Gallery cosmetics to include basic painting, spackling and sanding
Assist with the installation of labels, text panels and title walls
Manage all aspects of set-up and clean-up of an exhibition
Performs other installation related tasks as needed
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Experience with art handling and installation or interest in art handling professional development
Familiarity with installation of AV equipment and varied fabrication processes
Ability to work with firm timelines in a calm and professional manner
Ability to work in a diverse environment and with a diverse range of colleagues, stakeholders and visitors
Ability to be careful and precise in the handling of art objects
Ability to work flexible hours and schedules as needed; including evenings, nights, days, weekends, holidays
Strong work ethic
