BIFA: Funky Fibers Upcycled Basket Weaving
Step into another dimension of craft in this special Breckenridge International Festival of Arts (BIFA) workshop. Inspired by the festival theme “Other Worlds,” participants will transform discarded materials into baskets using traditional weaving techniques. Whether you are a novice or an experienced maker, this class invites you to rethink the “junk” of our world as the building blocks for another. We will cover the fundamentals of coiling and twining basketry using non-traditional, upcycled materials.
Learn how art can serve as a portal to “Other Worlds” while addressing the environmental realities of our own through the Precious Plastic initiative. All materials are provided, including recycled plastics and scrap textiles, but participants are encouraged to bring their own clean “other-worldly” trinkets or colorful plastic waste to incorporate.
