ABOUT THE PROGRAM
“Retratos de la Vida” expands our American Adventures season beyond borders, celebrating the vibrant rhythms and traditions that shape life across Spanish-speaking cultures. Ortiz’s Antrópolis draws inspiration from Mexico City’s electrifying nightlife, layering driving percussion and bold orchestral textures into a soundscape that feels kinetic. De Falla’s suite from El sombrero de tres picos brings Andalusian flair to the stage, blending rustic dance and sultry lyricism in music that brims with theatrical flair. Moncayo’s Huapango closes the program in a blaze of rhythmic vitality, transforming folk melodies into a symphonic celebration that radiates irresistible energy.
