Create a Pitcher and Cup Set: Beginner Clay Hand Building Series

Create a Pitcher and Cup Set: Beginner Clay Hand Building Series

Join us for three consecutive weekly guided classes where you’ll craft your own decorative and functional pouring and drinking vessels. Unlike wheel-throwing, hand-building enables you to shape clay with just your hands and simple tools—offering a relaxed and intuitive way to sculpt one-of-a-kind pottery creations.

Throughout the classes, you will be guided on the fundamentals of slab construction, slab manipulation and coiling techniques. Learn design skills including handle pulling, sculpting and various surface decoration methods to make your pieces unique to you.

By the end of the series, you’ll have a completed set that includes a pitcher and 2 to 4 cups. Perfect for both beginners and experienced artists, this class will guide you through a joyful process to craft pottery that is both functional and beautiful.

WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE REGISTERING

This is a series of classes. You must sign up before the first class in a series. When you sign up, you commit to 3 weeks of classes that repeat every Thursday.

Your course also includes an additional Ceramics Glazing Class (offered 3 times this semester)—required before using our kilns. Ceramics is a multi-step process that takes multiple weeks to complete a finished piece.

Clay needs time to dry and be fired, so projects will be ready to take home about two weeks after your final class. Unfortunately, we are unable to ship completed projects.
