2024 Summer Camps

Breck Create invites children, tweens, and teens to explore their creativity through a range of summer camps focused on the arts.

For ages 6-13, for more information about ages for each camp, scroll down. To ensure a spot, register online. Must register for all five days. 

Summer Camp Dates

  • Week 1:  July 15-19

  • Week 2: July 22-26

  • Week 3: July 29-Aug 2

Artist in Residence Kayla Powers will be leading the Morning Sessions and Artist in Residence Cipriano Ortega will be leading the Afternoon Sessions.

DROP OFF & PICK UP INFORMATION

  • Morning Sessions: Drop Off as early as 8:30AM and Pick Up as late as 1PM

  • Afternoon Sessions: Drop Off as early as 1PM and Pick Up as late as 5:30PM

Non-members $233 Members $175. 

NEEDS -BASED SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

Please note that if after several redirections from the instructor, your youth is struggling to maintain appropriate behaviors, remain engaged with the class activities or is compromising the safety of themselves or others we will contact you to pick them up before the end of class. No refunds will be given in this instance.

LOCAL COLOR: Print, Paint, and Dye with Plants

July 15 - 19

Make color with plants! Together, we will identify local dye plants, extract color, and apply it to fabric and paper. We will create a Natural Dye Journal with drawings of plants and samples of plant dyes, we will bundle dye bandanas, dip dye in indigo and hand paint a canvas tote bag!

For Ages 6-10. To ensure a spot, register online. Must register for all five days. 

  • Monday: Natural Dyeing

  • Tuesday: Journal Making

  • Wednesday: Bundle Dyeing, Flower Printing

  • Thursday: Indigo Dyeing 

  • Friday: Painting with Plants

Additional Supplies needed: hammer, cardboard, cotton string, scissors, staples, hole punch, paint brushes, scrap paper, rubber gloves, rubber bands

CREATIVE QUILTS: Exploring the Art + Craft of Quilting

July 22 - 26

Explore the world of quilting through pattern, patchwork, painting and more! 

We will create paper quilt blocks with hand painted designs, whole-cloth quilts with naturally dyed fabrics, and mixed media quilt inspired collages.

For Ages 6-10. To ensure a spot, register online. Must register for all five days. 

  • Monday: Paper Quilts

  • Tuesday: Natural Dyeing Cotton Fabric

  • Wednesday: Whole Cloth Quilts 

  • Thursday: Painting Quilts

  • Friday: Collage Quilts

Additional Supplies needed: construction paper, scissors, markers, colored pencils, crayons, safety pins, cardstock, rulers, pencils, erasers, glue

WILD WEAVERS: Nature Inspired Loom Creations

July 29 – August 2

Learn how to weave in a variety of fun and creative ways inspired by nature!

We will explore basketry, traditional frame looms, and found and recycled materials to create woven artwork with wool, cotton, paper, fabric, and plants.

For Ages 6-10. To ensure a spot, register online. Must register for all five days. 

  • Monday: Paper Weavings

  • Tuesday: Nature Looms

  • Wednesday: Tapestry Loom

  • Thursday: Found Materials

  • Friday: Baskets and Bowls

Discover mask making and storytelling as students design and create their own masks, exploring traditional uses from various cultures. At the end of the week students will present their mask as well as the story behind their creation!

Swashbuckling! Sword Fighting Choreography

July 29 – August 2

Learn how to safely sword fight for the stage! Throughout the week students will explore different scenes from theater such as Shakespeare, Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, and many more! At the end of the week students will perform their dramatic scene of choice.
