Going Home

Carter Park, 310 S. High St.
Willie Morrison

On the eastern edge of Carter Park stands a steel representation of a Native American rider on horseback, his gaze cast toward Peak 8. The sculpture is by late Alma resident Willie Morrison, who designed and built a series of cedar-and-metal benches and trash receptacles for Breckenridge before his untimely death in 1998. The Town purchased the sculpture in memory of the “honorary local,” who once served as mayor of Alma. The untitled piece was christened “Going Home” by Willie’s good friend, Tim Hoopingarner.

Purchased by the Town of Breckenridge.
