Trail Mix by Nicole Banowetz: Installation Activations
Trail Mix weaves together the natural beauty of Breckenridge with moments of artistic discovery—inviting hikers and bikers to encounter pop-up performances, outdoor installations, and guided mindfulness experiences along scenic local trails.
About the Installation: Biophilic Regeneration Series: The Dredge
The Biophilic Regeneration Series are performative sculptures which address the disconnect between humans and our environment. How can one single human address the enormity of climate change and the range of negative effects humans have on our planet. Sometimes the solutions seem absurd and hopeless, but taking action matters. In the Reiling Dredge area in Breckenridge dredging physically altered the landscape by literally upturning the earth and burying the river under stones. Seeing this devastated landscape shows us how quickly humans can impact their environment, and can actually give us hope that we will use this same absurd ingenuity for the good of the planet.
This artwork was created by the artist during her fall, 2024 residency at Breck Create.
