Public Art
Three Cowboys
Stephen Hansen
Stephen Hansen’s lighthearted bronze sculpture of three cowboys sitting on a fence, each gesturing toward a different trail, graces the front yard of the historic Gaymon Cabin, which once served as the town information center. The Welcome Center has since moved to 203 S. Main Street, but the cowboys remain, offering conflicting directions to all who visit while harkening humorously back to the region’s ranching history. Installed in December of 1997, the sculpture was the first piece of public art to be coordinated by Breckenridge’s newly formed Public Art Commission.
Commissioned by the Town of Breckenridge.
