ABOUT THE PROGRAM
From sunlit trails to festive mountain gatherings, Summit County bursts with moments of pure celebration and shared joy. Experience the joy, energy, and exuberance of music with a vibrant program that captures the pure delight of living in the mountains. The evening opens with Carlos Simon’s Four Black American Dances, a dynamic work that blends classical and contemporary influences as a tribute to the rich cultural traditions and expressive power of Black American dance. Stravinsky’s Pulcinella Suite follows, a playful ballet score inspired by 18th-century commedia dell’arte. Bursting with charm, humor, and lively melodies, this suite is a joyful nod to the past with Stravinsky’s unmistakable modern twist. The concert concludes with Arturo Márquez’s Conga del Fuego Nuevo, a fiery and rhythmic showpiece inspired by the conga dance, with infectious melodies and explosive energy that will have you tapping your feet and smiling in delight.
